Following Burnley and Leeds’ confirmation of their promotion to the Premier League, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool are expected to benefit monetarily. The Clarets defeated Sheffield United on Monday night which ultimately prevent the Blades from catching either of the top two.Josh Brownhill’s two goals sealed the win at Turf Moor, putting them eight points clear of Chris Wilder’s team. The Yorkshiremen will now contend in the promotion play-offs this season after finishing third.Leeds United, who crushed Stoke City earlier on Monday, also earned promotion as a result of Burnley’s victory. The Whites are currently leading Burnley in the Championship on goal difference.Additionally, Parker’s performance this season helps the 17 Premier League teams that aren’t going to be demoted. This is because Burnley and Leeds will no longer get the parachute money that those clubs will share.£102 million in parachute payments were saved when Southampton and Leicester were relegated in 2023 and then promoted the following season. The Premier League clubs then split those savings.According to The Mirror, another £51 million has been saved as a result of Burnley and Leeds’ promotions, and this money will now be distributed among top-flight teams. Leeds were supposed to get £16 million next season, while the Clarets were supposed to get a parachute payment of £35 million. But their promotion means they will instead now collect out more than £110m because of the television and prize money deals. As a result the £51m in outstanding parachute payments will be shared by the top-flight clubs. Thus, a portion of that allocation would go to Man United, Liverpool, and Arsenal.
